Here we go again! Jaxon's last eye surgery was not successful. His eyes went crossed again. This time they weren't as bad, but still not straight. Dr. Dries is getting frustrated, as are we. He says it rarely takes 3 surgeries to fix this. But he has a lot of factors against him. Being preemie, having ROP and the ROP surgery, and genes-Aaron had this problem when he was little and has had this same surgery twice. So please pray that it works! This is his 4th eye surgery and 6th surgery overall. Poor kid. And he is walking now, but he walks like he's drunk. He runs into things and falls down all the time. You can just tell his depth perception's is so off. Dr. Dries says that his eyes see separately, that they can't put the image together to make one image. I can't even imagine how hard that would be!
When they took him back for the surgery the nurse told us it would be about 40 minutes. So we went and ate some lunch at the cafeteria and headed back up to the waiting room. After an hour and a half went by my heart was beating so fast, I was sooooo nervous. Aaron kept telling me that everything would be just fine. But when things are taking twice as long as it's supposed to wouldn't you be worried. Finally Dr. Dries came out and said that everything went very well. He had had a cancellation so he had extra time to take things nice and slow to make sure he didn't make more scar tissue and just to ensure that everything was done the best it could possibly be. Phew!
Waiting for our turn.
Right after. So not feeling good. :(
Aaron being Aaron. ;)
Poor thing did not want to wake up.
Finally woke up, the only way we could get him to stop crying was to give him a ring pop. :)
Car ride home, still lovin his ring pop.
So we are hoping that the third time's the charm. And hoping that his balance will improve so the poor thing won't be so clumsy! :)
