I know it may seem that I have everything under control (wink, wink) and that I do it with ease (HA!!!) but I'm slowly losing my mind! I love my kiddos but I really just needed some away time, so I decided that I needed a little getaway with just Aaron. Aaron had just had his birthday (June 3rd) and mine was coming up (June 19th) so I decided it was a great time to treat ourselves. So I booked us a little weekend cruise! I pretty much just called Aaron and told him that I booked us a cruise so get ready because it was only a week away.
We flew out to Long Beach the morning of Friday June 12. Can I just tell you how awesome the Long Beach airport is. Holy cow, that has got to be the smallest airport ever! Only jets can land/take off from there, the terminal is about the size of a triple wide trailer house. Okay, I might be exaggerating a little bit, but it was so small. And oddly enough they had a really good little restaurant in the airport so we ate there on Friday and on our return flight on Monday.
The cruise left from Long Beach at about 5:30 Friday evening. Saturday morning we docked at Catalina Island for the day. We decided to go on a power raft tour of the coast of the island. It was pretty fun, it took us about 10 miles down the coast and we saw a bald eagle, sea lion, a bunch of different birds and some pretty neat geological structures. Then on the way back it took us out into the ocean to see if we could see dolphins and whales. Of course we didn't see any of those on the tour. We did see some while at sea on the cruise boat though.
Then Sunday we docked in good ol Ensenada Mexico. We decided to go have a look around, and we made it about an hour and decided we'd had our fill of that place and got back on the boat and just laid out on the deck and relaxed the whole day.
I was doing pretty good with being gone from the kids until we lost all service. No phone or internet service at all. But of course they will sale you some internet minutes for a "cheap" price. So we bought a few minutes and would e-mail a couple times a day to make sure all was well. That made me feel a bit better, but being away was harder than I thought.
On Monday night we got home and we were so excited to see our kiddos, when we walked in we expected them to come running/crawling to us.....NOPE! They just stared at us and when I picked up Gavin he sure did slap me right across my face and then wanted my mom. Hmmm...Guess they were a little mad that we left them. :)
I think the trip defiantly did the trick. I would say that I'm still some what sane and we had a great time. Thanks to everyone that helped with the kids. You are all AMAZING!
Our boat, Carnival Paradise
Us when we got on the island
Some houses on the island
They call this the Casino. It isn't a casino though. They have dances and a movie theater there.
Us on our power raft tour. Those things are fast!
The bald eagle is the little white speck in the upper center. I tried to zoom in but I would lose where the eagle was in the camera
A baby sea lion
This was an eye in the rock. Pretty cool.
It got a little wet and chilly after a while so I got to where this awesome rain jacket. Sexy.
Proof that we got off the boat in Mexico. :)
Us about as close to Ensenada as we cared to be. You can see the Mexican flag in the background. Good enough for us. :)
Us after we got off the cruise
We had like 6 hours between the time when we got off the boat and when our flight left so we got to spend most of it in the awesome Long Beach Airport. We got a little bored.
Yep, those are all the terminals in the airport.
This is us boarding our plane. Awesome jet way huh!

I'm glad you had the chance to get away for a little bit. It is hard to be away from your kids though. It's funny how you want to get away soooo bad but then you can't wait to get back.
Glad that you guys had a fun little break.
I am very very jealous right now. :) I really want a getaway with my hubby but it might have to be next year when I am not a big prego chubby woman. HAHA! I love your swimsuit and coverup! And good ol' Mexico. Not much to say about that except not sure if I will ever go back after Kurt got offered hookers and drugs while we were walking down the street HOLDING HANDS in Cancun. He said one woman was enough for him. :) But I love relaxing on cruise ships and all the yummy food! Good for you guys!!!
I'm jealous too. First, I grew up just a couple of hours from Long Beach and have never been to Catalina. By the way, the airport by my Dad is smaller-only 1 airline. Second, Mark and I finally got out for a date night! Only had 3 hours before I had to hook Abby up to her pump.
Would love to do the cruise thing, but can't afford it and have no one that could take care of the kids. Can't wait to get rid of that darn gtube. It will probably be at least another year.
But I am glad you had a good time. I'm sure your sanity wavers at times having 4 young uns to take care of.
