Once again, I can say the babies are doing awesome. I love that I'm able to say that after everything these little guys have gone through! Well I mentioned before that we thought Jaxon had a paralized vocal cord from his surgery, but after the ENT (ear nose and throat) specialist looked at him, he concluded that it's just "sluggish" not completely paralized. But his throat is pretty swollen from reflux which makes it hard for him to swallow and that's why his cry is so soft. So they put him on some reflux medicine and hopefully that helps him out. And Gavin actually has the paralized vocal cord. We were totally shocked when we found that out. But the ENT said that the other vocal cord is compensating well. Which is good. So the OT (occupational therapists) come everday and do little excersises to help them learn to swallow and then they do a swallow study on them and then hopefully they can eat with a bottle soon. We just have to position them a little different when they have a paralized vocal cord, but other than that once they learn to swallow all should be well. Jacee on the other hand is already doing bottles and doing great! They have a protocol for feedings when they learn to take a bottle and she is cruising right along with that. They started her out at one bottle a shift (every 12 hours) and once she does good with that she moves up to two bottles a shift which is where she is at now. Sometimes she gets tired, but overall she is doing really good. There's even mention of her coming home soon. (keep your fingers crossed!) YAY!!!
All three have ROP (retna opathy of prematurity) (have no idea if that is even close to being spelled right!) It's an issue with the eyes, let's just say, and the doctors check their eyes every week because if it gets too bad then they need laser eye surgery to repair it. Right now Jaxon has it the worst and is borderline for needing the surgery, so everyone keep them in your prayers, we don't want surgery again.
Well their weights as of last night are:
Jaxon: 5 lbs 11 oz
Gavin: 5 lbs 10 oz
Jacee: 5 lbs 13 oz (superwoman huh!)

I have been meaning to ask about their eyes. Hopefully they will correct themselves. Luckily we didnt have to deal with that. They are looking great!
These pictures bring back so many memories. Write down all that you can because you will forget. If you can try to get handprints and footprints as they grow. We didn't when they were first born so all we have is their birth certificates. That's one of my regrets. Also just remember to take time for yourself even if it is only 15-30 mins. take it so you don't get too over tired. And last--Enjoy every moment!! Also have you heard about the AFLAC and Consieco ICU policies? Stay strong, they will be home before you know it.
Yay! I am so excited for them! I can't believe Jacee weighs more than Jaxon! She is superwoman! Love the new background...do you?? :)
Hi Brooke, I hope you don't mind that I look at your blog all the time after I check out Amber's. I am Amber's sister-in-law, Heather. Anyway, your little ones are just a miracle and so precious. Whenever I look at their pictures I get a little baby hungry. You definitely are a busy mom and I know you will just get busier. I look up to you guys and I hope and pray the babies continue to do well. Braxton still remembers when Dax came over and played basketball for his b-day party while those babes were in the hospital. That was way fun. If Dax ever needs to play again just tell Amber to bring him over, that is, before she moves:(, but even after you can send him over. Brayden and Braxton loved playing with him.
