Okay, once again sorry I haven't updated lately! Anyways, Gavin was able to have his surgery yesterday afternoon. They called us yesterday morning and told us he was going to have it at 3:30. I'm glad we didn't get much notice because I didn't have to stress about for days! The Air Med nurses came and got him and transported him over to Primary Childrens (pushed his crib over the bridge) The surgery went really well. The surgeon said he was a great little boy. They gave him the "blue plate special". He had his hernias repaired, his feeding tube placed and got circumsized. Poor thing! They had to intibate him during the surgery but he was able to come right off it! Yeah! He just required some oxygen after for a few hours but is completely off it now. Good job Gav! He has 7 different incisions because they used a scope for the hernias and G tube. He is not a happy camper! He was able to go right back over to the U to recover, which we are very happy about. He has lots of friends there, most of which are wrapped around his little finger! He cried non stop for about 2 hours after until the nurses were able give him some more pain meds. It was sooooo sad, you could tell it was a pain cry. It wasn't his usual come pick me up cry. And the more he cried the more it hurt, so it was a bad little circle. He was even holding his breath he was crying so hard, and he already has won the award for saddest cry, so this was heartbreaking. =( The nurse said he settled down quite a bit last night, but would wake up about every half hour and cry a bit. They are going to try and start feeding him a little bit at a time today, and after he gets some food in his belly they will give him some tylenol, and that for some reason works so well for babies, so hopefully that will help. It will take a few days for him to recover and get used to the feeding tube so he'll be there for a few more days, but then Home Sweet Home! At least the ends in sight!
On his way...
Right after surgery, still trying to wake up...
Back at the U, not feeling good...
Close up...
So sad...
